Woke up to a thunderstorm and ran outside to bring in my LG kit from the clothes line. Due to weather and the beauty and hospitality I received in Tours, I decided to stay an extra night and take the train to my next destination. Change of plan: tomorrow I head to La Rochelle via train, then bike to Royan for the night.
I took a day trip around Tours to see the chateaux, wineries, and history. I also found a lot of tourists. Here's Tours by night:
Patrick and Beatrice invited me for my second night and fed me dinner both evenings, complete with apertif, salad, entree, and dessert. I am so grateful for their hospitality and generosity. They are a charming family and I hope to do some sort of exchange with their daughter Tiphaine (when she's a bit older!)
French breakfast: so many choices of bread!
I biked to Amboise to see the chateau the stopped by Da Vinci's home. This is the house he passed away in. I love the philosophy, art, and science -- they cannot be separated.
