Day 01: Paris

After arriving in France I decided the airport was the best place to
build my bike rather than lugging a huge box through the city.

I then learned that bringing a bike on the subway with 20 lbs of luggage is a bit challenging -- there are lots of people and lots of stairs to go up and down, plus subway turnstiles aren't exactly bike compatible.

Just after exiting the subway Melvyn approached me wearing a biking jersey. Said he loved my bike and pointed me to my hotel and a local bike shop. Turns out he was also going to Evreux tomorrow for a bike trip, but that he was taking the train. He gave me his number incase I needed anything, and wished me luck biking out of Paris.

I went to the bike store and had my derailer adjusted, then hit the
town! I road down the Champs Élysées to start my ride with a great finish (the Tour ends there every year) then visited the Arc.

But the cobble road gave me a flat, so I took the subway home. How do the pros do laps without getting a flat? Perhaps lower tire pressure...

Dined and people watched in what seemed to be falafel central,

Then had trouble planning my route, so I gave Melvin a call.
